2017 PLA ANNUAL DINNER PARTY

In 2017 the PLA annual dinner party returned to Kona Kai Resort and Spa on Shelter Island on October 4th. More than 300 guests enjoyed a champagne social hour, sit-down dinner, lively auction and a celebration of the “Gems” — things and places that make our community unique — and the “Jewels” — people who make them sparkle.

We honored Nancy Peckham and the Hervey family with Lighthouse Awards. Dorothea Laub (former Lighthouse awardee) received a special community award. And La Playa Trail Association and PLA saluted Klonie Kunzel for her key role in creation of the wonderful book with history and images of Point Loma.

In keeping with this year’s dinner theme, guests “dug” for a ¾ carat diamond among cubic zirconia. They donated for a chance to take home a hat stuffed with money and enjoyed an evening of conversation and laughter with friends.

The event was a big success, netting more than $55,000 for the all-volunteer programs of the PLA.
