James Halliday
James Halliday is Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer at the NTC Foundation/Arts District Liberty Station. Before joining the Arts District team, James was executive director of A Reason to Survive (ARTS), a creative youth development nonprofit and community arts center in National City.
After graduating with a degree in history from Stanford in 2003, James pursued postgraduate studies in Cracow, Poland, where he lived until 2005. Between 2005-14, he lived in Seoul, Moscow, and Istanbul, where he worked for many years in journalism and media, before transitioning to work in social enterprise and education. A native (and 5th generation) San Diegan, James returned home in 2014, where he has been working in the nonprofit sector for more than a decade.
James and his wife Kate live in Point Loma, and in November 2024 welcomed their first child, a baby girl, Billie Isabel Halliday. James is an avid cook, and loves hiking, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family (usually outdoors with food involved).
