Meet Our Distinguished Artists
Sarah Stieber — Mural Artist
Sarah Stieber is a San Diego-based contemporary artist and muralist known for vibrant, joyful work celebrating empowered, fully expressed individuals. This is her second mural in Point Loma, following her earlier mural at The Monsaraz Hotel.
For this new Rosecrans Street mural, Stieber looked to the neighborhood itself for inspiration. After walking Point Loma and talking with residents and local businesses, she wanted the piece to reflect the community’s relaxed coastal character. In her words, she hopes the mural inspires people to “be ever present, to enjoy the sparkly serenity of the coast,” and to embrace a little spontaneity along the way.
Stieber’s work has been created for brands including Samsung, Marriott, Topo Chico and Penguin Random House, and her art has been featured internationally. She has also been recognized by San Diego Magazine and Modern Luxury for her contemporary art and mural work.
Kristel Boe — Utility Box Artist
Kristel Boe is a San Diego artist, muralist and art educator and the founder of ArtBeat San Diego. Her work spans public murals, community art projects and creative experiences designed to make art accessible and engaging. Kristel describes her work as specializing in vibrant murals inspired by nature, animals and custom designs that beautify the community. Kristel has been a longtime contributor to Point Loma’s utility box art program, with installations throughout the community, and is creating 10 of the 15 new utility box artworks being celebrated this year. The new boxes are themed around "In Bloom" - signifiying growth and flourishing - and "Exploration" the core value of Cabrillo Elementary School - "Every Explorer, Every Day!"
Linda Churchill — Utility Box Artist
Retired muralist Linda Churchill has left a colorful mark throughout Point Loma through years of public art and utility box projects. Working through her former mural business, Muralizing, Linda created murals and transformed numerous neighborhood utility boxes into works of art, often incorporating local landscapes, flowers and imagery inspired by the surrounding community. PLA’s existing public-art collection includes Linda’s work at locations throughout Point Loma, including Rosecrans, Catalina, Talbot, Evergreen and the Point Loma Pump Station. Her longstanding contribution to the program makes her part of the story of how Point Loma has used public art to beautify neighborhood spaces.
