Rachel Oesterle

A recent transplant to Point Loma, Rachel Oesterle made the big move in 2022 from Scottsdale, Arizona, seeking a more engaged family life and new social connections after a successful career in the non-profit sector. Almost immediately, she was introduced to the Point Loma Association and quickly volunteered to help with the annual fundraising dinner. For the past two years, Rachel has produced the run of show for the event, and this year, will co-chair with Jamie Saylor.

Rachel’s career in the non-profit arena spans some 40+ years, mostly in the greater Phoenix area. Her professional journey is a testament to her commitment to transformative impact on the non-profit world. Rachel received a Master of Science in Rehabilitation from the University of Arizona in Tucson, her hometown. The first two decades of her career were dedicated to child welfare including a 15-year tenure as CEO of Aid to Adoption of Special Kids (AASK-AZ).

After leaving AASK-AZ Rachel started a consulting practice, Oesterle and Associates, LLC in 2002. Her specific concentration centered on organizational assessment, strategic initiatives, capacity building and collaborative partnerships. A leader in the non-profit sector she was known as a strategic specialist and builder, helping many non-profits articulate and implement their visions. She had the pleasure of spending the last two decades helping social service, medical, arts and faith-based organizations. She has led several major capital campaigns, in addition to helping create sustainable programs and enhancing organizational strength and sustainability.

Today, Rachel is enjoying exploring and enjoying this new life chapter. A fun fact is that her mother’s family settled in the San Diego area in the 1920’s, and as a result she feels in a sense that she has come home.
